“He
has showed you, O man, what is good. And
what does the LORD require of you? To
act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah
6:8).
I. MICAH, THE MAN AND THE BOOK
II. ACT JUSTLY
1. God
cares just as deeply today for justice to be done and right treatment of all
regardless of social and economic status as he did then. God never changes.
2. To
act justly is to treat others with honor, dignity and integrity no matter who
they are. To act justly is to act with
equity, fairness and deference to those who are in a weaker position.
III. LOVE MERCY
1. What
if God treated my transgressions solely with justice, justice that was not
tempered by his mercy? Where would I be?
2. Practically
speaking, mercy is when we are able to overlook an offense and treat the
offender better than he deserves.
IV. WALK HUMBLY WITH YOUR GOD
1. Humility
is that virtue required of those who are faithful followers of our Lord.
2. “For this is what the high and lofty One says—he
who lives forever, whose name is holy: I live in a high and holy place, but
also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the
lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite” (Isaiah 57:15).
